It only backs up your files, including all the system files and restore
files. I've just backed up 45 GB of files to DVD's. It does record the
partition info, which allows a complete restoration of your partitions and
blank space, so in that sense it does record the info.

I don't run XP, but I think someone told me that the backup program
provided does a "complete" backup including the unused area of the hard
drive, which would mean a much larger backup for anyone who has blank
space on their hard drives...

Perhaps someone can confirm if this is accurate...
