[filmscanners] Re: Slightly, somewhat OT

Austin,

If you backup XP, using it's own backup routine, it does a 'shadow volume
copy' which allows all the system files, open or closed, to be backed up. If
you just try to 'copy' the system files, it won't copy the open files, but
the backup and asr routines do this automatically.

Hi Anthony,

You're correct. If you try to copy the NT system directory, there are files
that can not be copied. What I have to do to copy the entire OS, is boot
from another OS installation directory, either on that disk, or on another
disk, and then copy the files.
