[filmscanners] Re: Next Cycle of Scanner Tech

I don't understand why people respond with bilge like this....nothing is
wrong with current scanners. I was just curious approximately when the
next cycle of new scanner releases were. I really want a lower cost
alternative for scanning 4x5 film, i.e. $1000 & under flatbed; emphasize
want, not need. I'm happy using a traditional darkroom, but when I want
to make larger negs for contact printing, scanning is the best way to go.

I've seen decent results from current models, i.e. Canon & Epson, but am
going to wait for the next cycle of flatbeds to see what they offer. I
am not in a _need_ position, so the buy now, something better is always
around the corner philosophy doesn't apply in this case. Seems to me
that the upcoming mid-range models will probably hit the price/quality
point that I have been looking for. Nothing is wrong with current
prosumer film scanners, they are worth buying now, but I shoot larger
formats and a flatbed is the only affordable option there.
