What's wrong with existing scanners?

Subject: [filmscanners] Next Cycle of Scanner Tech

I was wondering if anyone knows when the next approx. product releases
by the major mid-range/prosumer manufacturers is supposed to be. Is
there likely to be improved Dmax/resolution at the same pricepoints, or
different configurations with the same current CCD tech? I'm interested
in a MF film and possibly a flatbed for 4x5 LF. Thanks.
