[filmscanners] Re: VueScan 7.4.2 Available...2450 questionfor Edward Wiseman

Hello Richard..
I'm on a 733mhz PC on W98SE w/768 meg of ram..I've been using Vuescan
almost exclusively with my Artixscan 4000T (Polaroid SS4000 clone) with
great success..I've recently acquired the 2450 to do 6x4.5 scans form my
Bronica ETRSI..plus some older Mamyia 6x7 scans as well..
Vuescan identifies the negative scan area which you can actually input to
your specific negative size requirements..It also has a crop tool for fine
tuning/cropping your final scan..
Previews on this scanner are very fast..The final scans are very slow
compared to my 35mm scanner..transmission times for data on USB 1.1 are not
particularly long....
I too have had problems getting this scanner to work either with a USB2.0
card, or a Firewire card..My computer will not recognize the Firewire, and
using the 2450 on USB2.0 caused my computer to crash EVERY time I powered
the scanner off..Epson/ Koutech /no one else has a clue as to why/whynot...
Once Ed gets the "bugs" out of this for use with the 2450, I'm sure I'll be
using it pretty much exclusively as well..
Good Luck!

Hi Edward

I was interested to see you have the 2450 running with Vuescan and have a
question you may be able to answer for me...I was wondering how Vuescan
works with the tranny hood. The Epson twain plug-in for PS auto recognizes
the tranny size, does Vuescan do the same or does it preview the whole bed
and then allow one to marquee select the area to be scanned. If so how long
does the pre-scan take.

Btw you Mac or PC? I ask because I've yet to get Vuescan to see the scanner
at all my iMac.

Thanks in advance.

Richard
