Maybe I am missing something, but you can't reproduce much more than 300dpi
(or ppi depending on your school of thought and background) so - scan at
300, manipulate at 300, stitch at 300 and get a final print around 35MB (if
my maths is right which it may not be this morning).

Then in PS just resize to 13x16 (approx, if you keep aspect ratio) without
allowing resampling - your file size remains the same, but your resolution
goes up to about 415dpi. This should be plenty to print accurately. If
you have a really hot printer then increase the original res accordingly,
but you don't need anything like 1800.

Am I missing something?
