I tried cleaning my SS4000 a few months ago without any problem though I
can't say it seemed to scan any better. I thought I would check it again
today.

I opened it up today. I set the cover to one side but managed to pull one
of the wires off the small board by the upper door sensor inside the cover.

I was able to resolder the wire. However, I think the next time it would be
best to disconnect the white female connector from the scanner chassis so I
can completely set the cover aside. I wound up unscrewing the sensor
switches so I could do the soldering. I was not sure how to remove those
white plugs; do they just pull out or do they have retainer prongs that need
to be depressed or something like that? I tried pulling but I was afraid of
breaking off the whole thing.

I am surprised they didn't make the wires longer between the chassis and the
cover.

Stan
