        My SS4000, which I bought as a demonstrator about a year ago,
does something similar. Often when I set it to scan 4 slides it gets
lost on the fourth one, ejects the carrier instead of moving to slot
4, then does a beautiful scan of the part of the slide carrier in
front of slot 1. This is with VueScan - I don't often use the scanner
with any other software so I don't know if it's specific to VueScan.
