[filmscanners] Re: Nikon LS-40 vs Polaroid SS4000

Sure, the SS4000+ is a very nice product, and if you're in that market
as a first time purchaser, or upgrading from a 2700 dpi scanner, you'll
be very happy with it. But, the SS4000 is no slouch. People who bought
it at closeout got the best buy in a prosumer film scanner available.
And even people who bought it pre-closeout are being well served by it now.

Product marches on. Does the release of a 1.2 gig CPU mean your 800 mhz
computer needs to be upgraded? Well, unless you have a real need for
that increase, it might not be that important an upgrade. But if you
have a Pentium 233, maybe it would be wiser to buy the 1.2 gig, than the
800 mhz to replace it.
