  My opinion is that it is none of these ... it is the monitor which has the
smallest gamut (... but it could also be the printer, but I daresay, for
<US$500, printer gamuts can be larger than your display's ...)

  Much like buying Nikon ED lenses and having your film processed at
Walmart, but at least you have your options, unlike buying a shootn'toss
camera and then choosing a professional's print service for 8x10's.

  Possibly ... but even the best of films and exposures will not demand you
scan with more resolution than 4000ppi (altho some, but very few, can
approach 6000ppi).  The printer, on the other hand, only needs to suit your
needs ... all 8x10?, ... or an occasional 11x14?? ... or do you need
billboard panels???
