I don't know, but that's why I suggested perhaps Ed would answer the
question as to what mechanism is involved - a color or gamma shift, e.g. -
so that we can use the option appropriately.

Hopefully we will hear from him tomorrow, and meanwhile when I have time
I'll check the file and maybe 'reverse engineer' the Restore Color function.

|     I almost regreted that last statement because VS is so damn
| sensitive to color balance settings (e.g., neutral vs white balance,
| and the sensitivity to manually changing the values) ... and then
| thought I better check out the 'restore color' option.
|     I believe my observation is close to yours, leastwise for color
| balance ... but ^why^, given the same all other settings, would gamma
| jump approximately 0.8 points for restore colors turned on???  (I
| re-scanned an archived Q60 raw file).
