Yeah, I know, this is a filmscanner group.  But maybe others are
interested in how the Digicam market is playing out these days since
there aren't a heck of a lot of big announcements coming out it the film
scanner market.

Gateway has just released a 5 megapixel 3X optical zoom "rangefinder"
camera.  So what?  Well, it is selling direct for $399 US, that's what.

Minolta has introduced a one piece $1200 US camera with image
stabilization and a 7X optical zoom.  It uses motors which move the
image sensor rather than lens elements to compensate for camera shake.
