ICE can be a life-saver but I agree it can lose fine detail.  Interestingly, the
manufacturer of 3rd party diffuser for the Minolta Multi Pro claims that it 
improves ICE
results.  If this is true, it begs the question whether the softening is 
inherent in ICE or
just a side effect of the light source implementation.
