You're right that that's the degaussing coil. It gets a big shot of 60Hz AC,
which dies out to nearly nothing in a couple of seconds. I think it's
probably the coil itself that vibrates, as the powerful mag field causes the
turns of the coil to repel each other. I doubt there's anything harmful
about it.
