[filmscanners] Re: editing NEF vs TIFF scans

Thanks for that, Bob. If I could then ask a followup question... If I
scan a slide without doing any adjustments beforehand, will the
resulting NEF file be any different than if I save in TIFF, for the
purpose of doing any after-scan changes (LCH editor) in NikonScan? IOW,
is the NEF format only useful for changes made *before* the scan is
done?

I also would like to hear from anyone who uses NikonScan to do
adjustments (before or after scan) using Nikon's LCH editor, to ask a
few questions and compare practices.
Thanks.

the parameters of the curves adjustment you make are saved alongside the
original data, so you can open the adjusted file and go back to the
original
scanned output from the CCD, and make a different set of adjustments.
