[filmscanners] Re: Kodachrome green / scanner colorimetry

Jack,

I've just downloaded your Digital SHO and tried it. I'm not impressed. It
only works in 8bit, is very slow, and doesn't preview on the actual image.
If I've got to convert to 8bit, it is as quick to make a duplicate layer,
invert, desat, and Gblur it, and then use various amounts of Overlay, Hard
Light or Soft light to see the actual results on the image. I'm afraid that
it also give better results IMO.

I love the Digital ICE on my Nikon Scanner, but this one it not for me.

Bob Frost.

Hello Tom!
Have you tried Digital SHO to dig the detail out of the shadows? It does a
rather incredible job of showing detail without blowing the highlights. I
realize this isn't really the question you are asking in that you have to
have shadow detail available in the scan in order for Digital SHO to do its
job. However, if you have shadows and highlights and you want to show both
of them in a single image this program does wonders.

You can download a sample version of the program at www.asf.com.
