Where did you hear this? Mitsui claims, 'Stored at room temperature, Mitsui
DVD-R discs have an expected lifespan is in excess of 100 years.'. They also
say, 'Mitsui is also the only DVD-R available with a gold reflective layer that
is suitable for archive applications.'

I just got a new DVD-RW drive and would like to use it for making backups
instead of the CD-R. I also just got a new scanner and at over 100Mb each, only
5 or 6 scans will fit on a CD-R. It would be nice to use the RW (rewritables)
but I suppose, as with CD-RW, the DVD-RW's are less reliable. Mitsui doesn't
make DVD-RW disks. Does anybody have any info on the longevity of DVD disks or
recommendations of brands?

Nick
