[filmscanners] Re: RAW from NikonScan

Tomek,

I do this all the time now as I think that ICE is better than Vuescan's
simulation of it, but Vuescan's color management is better than NikonScan's.

Just turn off color management in NikonScan and set the gamma to 1 if you
are saving 16bit files. This is because Vuescan uses gamma = 1 for highbit
raw scans and 2.2 for lowbit raw scans. So if you are working with Vuescan
in 48bit mode it will expect a raw file of gamma = 1.

So save your raw NikonScan file with gamma =1, and then use Vuescan set to
Disk to open the file and process it. Simple!

Bob Frost.

What settings should I choose in order to get raw files with ICE from
NikonScan software? (with 4000ED).
I want to use Nikon's ICE feature, but then I want to use VueScan's color
management.
