[filmscanners] Repair reputation pof manufacturers?

A friend is looking at buying a 4000dpi film scanner.

He is studying the technical aspects, but want to know what happens when a
scanner needed repairs.

How do the following manufacturers handle repairs?
Nikon?
Minolta?
Polaroid?
Canon?
Microtek?

I am partial to Microtek because of my excellent experience with the
company, including a free repair way after my warranty had expired.

Nikon, however, is a different story... LS2000: $250 a shot, I had to send
the scanner back over and over until I raised enough hell to get a
replacement.

Thanks,

Francoise Frigola
