The focus point on Vuescan 7.5.16 is movable by clicking on the icon in the
preview. I have tried some tests with different focus points on a LS30 with
no increase or reduction of overall sharpness both centre and edge with the
film strip holder. Based upon an off centre preset focus point for the
Nikons, is there any benefit in locating the focus point on a point of edge
contrast if the present point say falls on a sky area for example, much like
the AF in a camera. Finally out of interest is the LS4000 any worse than the
LS30 with focus when using the film strip holder, as I see no problem with
the LS30 apart from with the SA20.

Regards

Philip Elkin
