filmscanners: SCSI vs USB scan speed - Kodak RFS3600

Scan rate statistic in Bruce Fraser's CreativePro review of the RFS 3600 film
scanner:

Scanning a full frame at maximum resolution takes a little shy of three
minutes through SCSI, as opposed to about a quarter of an hour via USB.

Article at

I've read that transfer rates are slower for USB vs SCSI, but by 5X? Is this
representative of other scanners scan times?
