It's interesting, since it has Firewire, which puts it ahead of the Canoscan
D2400UF that I'm currently using for 5x4.

But like you I had a Perfection 1200 which was hopeless. I then borrowed a
1640 which was  disappointing, so I've rather lost faith in Epson's
scanners.
