Yes, but some of the modules of that software that communicate with the
LS 4000 are likely not being used in your current configuration AND you
have no idea what evil Nikon has hidden in their firmware within the
scanner!

As long as I don't engage the spell checker in Netscape it rarely
crashes on my system, but 5% of the time I use that module, smack!

I find my system is very sneaky.  It is much more likely to freeze or
crash when I turn my back on it (I think it knows better ;-))
