I don't use the ICE stuff on slides, either, even though I have a Nikon scanner.
Most slides come back from the lab pretty clean, except for an occasional speck
here and there, so ICE isn't necessary.  I use it for negatives, though, because
most of the C-41 I get back is awash in scratches, spots, and dust.
