Of course those people used to work for NASA, and just can't work 
without several CRTs in front of them with different things on them.

You did, however, make a good point that many of Adobe's tools and 
filters have previews in the tool's menu box, and it would be maddening 
to have to work with very different color balances in that box than in 
the working image, etc.
