[filmscanners] ss4000 not initializing
Hi all,
I turned on my SprintScan 4000 for the first time in about a year today.
The 2 LEDs light up instantly with no flashing from the yellow one and there
are no motor noises. I've tried about 8 power cycles & have moved a film
carrier in & out of the scanner. There's no audible reaction and the LED's
just light up & stay on every time.
Suggestions? It's unlikely to be worth sending it in for service. I see
the clips on the bottom near the feet that look like they'd release the top
to check inside. Does anyone have hints on that process? An earlier thread
suggested wires snagging on the internals. Used SS4000s seem to be rare but
not expensive -- 1/4 to 1/2 the price of a new Nikon Coolscan V ED.
