  Vuescan's IR filter may be enabled for non 64bit scans, but it will apply
a non-IR algorithm.

  That is correct, you can scan 64bits without saving ... make your color
correctios, with or without IR cleaning, and save ... then enable IR
cleaning and then save again.  This works with the 64bit scan being in
Vuescan memory, but most users (leastwise myself) prefer to archive the
64bit raw scan, such that the above can be done at any time.
