I purchased my Scan Dual II about that time and I have had
good results from it.
In comparison with the Canon FS2710, it is slightly sharper
and gives better shadow detail, but it does emphasize dust and
scratches. I almost always use VueScan. As was mentioned recently,
I've been getting very good results from VueScan's Long Exposure Pass
feature - an almost complete elimination of shadow noise in the Scan
Dual II.

Roger Smith
