I've had my Scan Dual 2 since January 2001. Bought it as it appeared to be
the only USB slide scanner available for the new USB port only Macs at that
time. It's still going well, I'm very happy with it. However, it does have
an occasional problem of throwing an ugly green cast on the whole scan every
OTHER time I activate the autofocus. Very odd. So, if the first scan is
good, then, when I click autofocus, it turns green, or vice, versa, if the
first scan was green, I just have to click autofocus (which I usually do
anyway), and it corrects the cast back to the proper colour again.
Anyone else have this strange problem?
Incidentally, this is my second Scan Dual 2. The first worked for only 24
hours before a complete electrical breakdown, and I took it back to the
store for a replacement. So uh, yeah, it's possible that there's some
glitchy Scan Duals out there. But on the whole, for the money, I'd say it's
unbeatable, and I sell my prints. I don't use Vuescan, just the regular
software that comes with the scanner, and it does fine for me.
