I'm using Windows Me on a PIII.  Vuescan had no problem finding the scanner.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Incidentally, I made a couple scans with Silverfast last night.  It's not
too hard to use, and the controls are very comprehensive.  I was able to get
good scans with a mimimum of fumbling.
