Hello Lawrence!
It would be very difficult to retrofit, but relatively strait forward to
implement on a new drum scanner design. The engineering is quite time
consuming and hard to justify when there aren't very many scanners of a
particular model sold. I hope this answers your question...

Jack,

I know this a potentially lame question but is it possible to implement the
technology in drum scanners?  Although oil mounting takes care of most of
the dust, it certainly does not get it all.  I wish my howtek had it...
