[filmscanners] Re: SCSI Woes

I've had the same experience with my Minolta Scan Dual, in all recent
Windows versions, now with XP Pro. But it's not as bad as you think. Once
you boot with the scanner powered on, you can shut the scanner off. When
you turn it back on it will still be registered with the system (you can
check this in Device Manager). I leave my PC on all the time. When I have
to reboot, such as after installing new software or upgrading a driver, I
just remember to flip the scanner on for the reboot, and off after XP
starts up. Then I can turn the scanner on when I need it and it's
available. (Also, note that if you "log off" and then on again, either as
the same or different user, you do NOT have to switch the scanner on as you
do for a reboot.)
