It is real and in fact some members on this list are currently Beta testing
the unit. The SS4000+ has USB and firewire(with feed-through). OD is better
from 12 to 14 bits. Although the difference is real I think you would be
hard pressed to easily see that difference in an image at least from a
practical sense. Yes you may see it looking at pixel level in Photoshop but
on the printed image probably not.
Frankly if it was me I would purchase the current SS4000 given it great
value.
