Yes, RAID 0 is the best for speed, but it really depends on how you have the
system setup.  If you are using SCSI160 disks and controller, you can get
over 100MB/sec sustained...but...you need more than 2 disks.  Four would be
preferable, and then initial latency would be the bottleneck.

Also, is your OS on the same or different disk?  It should be on a separate
disk, not on the RAID array...and check that the disks are defragmented.
There are utilities that can defragment in real time, which may benefit you.
