Thanks for the thought, Jawed, and what you say makes a lot of sense in 
retrospect, in that Adobe Gamma *does* take over the monitor and/or 
vid-card, if it's been enabled. Unfortunately, the last time I tried that, 
it dumped me into color mode where my Acer scans became totally 
uncorrectible because I couldn't relate what showed on the screen to what 
the actual scan was. I'm fairly sure this was my unfamiliarity with 
Photoshop, but none of the several Adobe books I got from the library seemed 
to address the problem (suggesting it's probably just this and a few other 
monitors, not a widespread problem). I've since reverted to sRGB color 
because what I'm doing is being shared on various monitor screens, not being 
printed (at least, not by me).
