I could probably find the problem if you:

1) Turn on "Files|Output log file"
2) Turn on "Files|Output raw file"
3) Set resolution to minimum
4) Capture bad scan again
5) E-mail vuescan.log and scan0001.tif to me

Having the raw scan file would tell me if the problem
is with the acquisition of the raw data from the
scanner, or in the processing of the raw data to
produce the crop file.  Having the log file would
help me debug the problem if it turns out to be in
the original acquisition of the scan data.
