This happened once to me with a different model SCSI-attached scanner. Problem
was somehow in OS or HW communication with the scanner. When Viescan does
finish loading does it show the SS4000 scanner in the scan-from menu in the
device tab window or does it show (scan from) disk? Does the problem not occur
if you load an earlier Vuescan version?
