filmscanners: OT (slightly): Epson 640U

Can anyone confirm for me that the Epson 640U:
a) Can output data in a colour space other than sRGB (eg. Adobe RGB)
b) Can output more than 8bits per channel (using Vuescan perhaps?)

I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a 640U or a more expensive Epson
(eg. 1640 Photo), or some other brand entirely. The main thing I want it
for is profiling so I can match the output from my Epson 1160 to the output
from my LS30 film scanner (see it's not OT after all :). Since it's for
profiling, the gamut really needs to be more than sRGB.

Thanks in advance,
Rob
