А откуда взялось md5 /usr/include ? Из --with-md5=/usr/include ?
нет. У меня запуск ./configure без параметров приводит к этому.
Это нужно убрать и поставить пакет openssl-dev (или как он называется
на Gentoo).
с ssl собирается с тем же --with-md5=/usr/include
