[filmscanners] Re: Epson Perfection 3200 vs dedicated filmscanners

I have used the Epson 3200 scanner for the past three weeks now and have
made some surprising scans from 35mm negatives but it is not consistent. I
get more consistent results with mf negatives. And scans from this scanner
do need a lot a sharpening to be usable.

I have not compared to a dedicated film scanner and I probably would be
disappointed with the Epson 3200 if I did. Anyway, its all relative. But for
its price levels, I dont think there's another scanner that can do better.
Cheers,
Andre

Unfortunately, they don't seem to have a copy of the review on their website
(www.totaldp.com). It certainly sounds like a cracking scanner but, like
you, I would be surprised if it really can take on the dedicated scanners.
Surely someone on the list must have tried it!
