[filmscanners] RE: keeping the 16bit scans; now=HD longevityOT

Art:

Don't know where you get your numbers. The US is 5% of the world's
population, and uses 30-35% of the world's resources. Western Europe and
the developed nations of Asia (Japan, Singapore...)also consume a
disproportionate percentage. If you believe that French opposition to
the Iraq war is based on altruistic motives, then I have a drum scanner
I'll sell you for fifty bucks. Made from a real drum!

The war in Iraq is (like all wars) impelled by a number of causes. Some
are greedy and short-sighted, others are ill-considered but not
inherently evil or entirely self-interested. Equally, "they" hate us or
love us for a multitude of reasons, some of which are reasonable and
some of which are not. To hate the US for it's arrogance or seeming
indifference is one thing, but there are those (like OBL or Timothy
McVeigh) who hate us because the believe God wishes them to do so.

Yes, there are plenty of SUV driving Sierra Clubbers out there. There
are also plenty of folks who think we should "kill all the towelheads".
We need a rational and coherent foreign policy, along with an equally
rational energy policy. We also need to realize that Saddam and his ilk
are genuinely evil, and slaughter far more people in a year than any war
we will conduct. This justifies nothing in itself, but it needs to be
understood and considered.

Before the admins ban me...
