[filmscanners] RE: Digital Darkroom Computer Builders?

No, I have not looked at either. Unfortunately, I have seen neither of them
in any of the brick and morter outlets available to me in my location - even
the specialty Online computer outlets that have their headquarters in my
location. They all say they can get them but they do not and will not stock
any. Hence, there is no way to physically examine them.

However, I have had short opportunities to look at some of the 21" and 22'
LCD monitors that sell for anywhere from $1300 to $2300 in this location.
For this reason, I do not think I am comparing a Volkwagen against a
Ferrari - maybe a Mercades against a Ferrari. :-) But as I have said I am
basing my assertion on MY experiences todate and am not totally dicounting
others experiences.

Laurie,

Have you looked at an Apple Cinema or Formac Gallery LCD display? Comparing
them with cheap LCD's is like comparing a Ferrari to a Mini. I have one of
each (no, not the Ferrari), the expensive Formac one for the main monitor,
and a cheap one for the PS palettes.

The point you raise does answer my question; but my experience is such that
I have not had problems with CRTs but with LCD which tend to be hard to read
with the introduction of lower amounts of glare or if they are not precisely
align with the user's eyes and view. CRTs allow for much greater variance
in the precision of the point of view that the user must assume to see the
display easily and readably as well as the amount of glare that can be
introduced.
