I use Minolta s/w on Windows 2000. It works fine.
The features like, selecting the color profile are not very obvious; need to 
look at the GUI carefully to find out them.

Many thanks to Sarah Jane, Ramesh and Alastair. Looks like a good buy if
one uses the supplied software (does it work properly on Windows 2000?)
and covers it to keep the dust out.  I am sure my father will be happy
with it.
