[filmscanners] Re: Polaroid Sprint Scan 4000

Not the holders as the problem occurs with all of them, old and new. I'll send
it off to be
fixed when I have a chance.

The problem had to do with the carrier advancement. At first I thought it was
the recycling
problem but it wasn't. Polaroid could fix it (indicating that they would
replace if it
wasn't fixable) but a book and exhibition deadline made the one month downtime
impossible so
I replaced it. Aside from the misalignment I've also had problems with using
Vuescan with
the new one: it crashes badly constantly using firewire (two different cards)
so I've had to
shift to a usb connection. Ed Hamrick has tried to fix the firewire problem but
as of yet no
dice.

As for improvement over the 4000, aside from the problems, I don't really
notice it though I
haven't done any head-to-head testing.
