That should not be the problem, unless your system is marginal....
that is, if it can't supply the data as fast as the writer wants it
and you get a buffer underrun. I've successfully recorded a 600+ MB
file (a ZIP file) to a CD, writing at 12x with a Plextor 12/10/32
writer and ECDC 4.
