  ... "noise" reference please!  That is, there is plenty of room for
"discernability between tones" for slides.  Noise would hide this, of
course, but I don't believe slides are any noisier than negs, nor is
scanning slides any more susceptable to noise.  What kind of "noise" are you
talking about?
