[filmscanners] Re: Firewire and Windows98

I have an Epson 2450 which is designed to utilize USB2 (backwards
compatible to 1.1) OR.. Firewire..I'm operating ona 733 P3 with 768MEG of
ram on W98SE factory install....I purchased a PCI card for USB 2..My
computer crashed upon turning the sanner "OFF"...
I then purchased a FIREWIRE card, and the scanner would not recignize it at
all..
Calls to Epson and the PCI card manufacturers..gave me NO answers..
BTW..the scanner DOES work fine on USB1.1, and obviously scans at the same
speed regardless of connection, although I'm sure I'm losing some speed on
the data transfer which doesn't really seem to be a problem....Just my $2.00
worth..(inflation you know)..

I am using a Polaroid SS4000+ which also is both USB and Firewire.

At least with the beta instructions, people running Win 98 (I'm using SE
2) were told to stay with USB. If there is a way to use firewire, I'd
also like to know.
