I always found the whole Portra family easy and great to scan (I'm a Vuescan
user).
VC is just warmer and more saturated than NC. Anyway, what you have in the
neg you  find in the scan: You'll get more shadow/highlights details than in
wet prints, you may as often need to reinforce the midtones contrast by
adjusting curves in PS.
You will love both NC and VC in the digital darkroom too.
