I've added a Polacolor scan using the stock 'Color Slide' profile to my web
page so that you can compare with the 2b profile.
http://memebers.home.com/wirem/temp

The 'Color Slide2b' profile was announced by David Hemingway on the list
last week as offering an improvement in shadow fidelity through better
control of noise in the lowest values.

I have found the 2b profile does improve shadow fidelity. And compared to
the stock 'Color Slide' profile, 2b also shows a significant midtone
decrease in blue (Wow! The stock profile is really blue), which 2b also
brings more into line with the film as I see it. I prefer the 2b profile to
the stock.

The 2b profile is available at:
ftp://ftp.polaroid.com/pub/imaging/input/SS4000/NewColorSlideProfile/

I am liking the red saturation of the Silverfast scan more as I mull over my
experiments. Referring to the Face on the IT8, I judge the film is somewhere
in between the Polacolor 2b and Silverfast renditions; but not withstanding
the overall dark tone and mild cyan-yellow-red crossover of the gray
stepwedge in the Silverfast rendering.
