it means that Vuescan creates a file with a name which includes a backspace
character. This is very hard to see until you scan the files with some
utility which renders backspace characters. Otherwise it just moves the
cursor back over the previous character.

this has been described before on this forum. When trying to drag either
corners or sides of the crop box, the crop box doesn't obey and flips back
to some other position. It becomes quite impossible to select the entire
image.
